Get involved by working together and helping make a difference to Trafford

Launch Events

The idea behind the campaign is that we can encourage people to get involved in their local community, work with the Trafford Partnership to help make changes in their community, improve things and most importantly all work together to maintain the standards of decency, responsibility and respect that we have come to expect from our communities across Trafford.

We have a lot of great work going on across Trafford and we want to use this 100 days to capture all the activity across the borough and encourage other people to get involved.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who were involved in the numerous launch activities that took place in the various parts of the borough on 16th December 2011..

Sale Town Centre Clean up – over 50 people braved the weather this morning from the Ground force team, representatives of Friends of Bridge Water Canal, Community Organisation Love Sale, Councillors, children from Springfield Primary School, and representatives from businesses Barclays and the Royal Bank of Scotland all got involved

Young people from Broadoak School in Partington really enjoyed of Crime Scene Investigation that the Police delivered at their School, giving them an understanding of how the Police detect crimes.

The Bulb Planting in heart shape to depict “Love where you Live” in Seymour Park was undertaken by a number of 3 year olds despite it being cold, raining and being muddy, but they loved every minute of the planting. We would like to thank Parkers Garden Centre, Urmston for kindly contributing over 1,000 bulbs to enable the project to be a success. It is hoped that the results of their hard work will be seen in March when the planting is in full bloom at the end of the campaign.

Flixton Girls High School choir gave their free time to sing festive songs and entertain the shoppers in Urmston Market which was really well received.

The intergenerational Rhyme Time project at Woodsend Library gave a great opportunity for Children to come together with parents, grandparents and library users to sing and play instruments and the knitting club took time out to knit clothes for children in Africa.

The Day ended with the Leader of the Council being joined by young people who have received awards for being community champions, community representatives, Councillors and Trafford Partners to sign the Trafford Pledge. Hopefully, the signing of the pledge will encourage even more people to get involved.
