Trafford residents have an exciting opportunity to play their part during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Games Time Ambassador Programme is recruiting around 500 volunteers to provide support for visitors to key sites including transport hubs, the Last Mile route from Manchester city centre to Trafford, and Manchester city centre's live site where sports events will be broadcast on a big screen. There will also be the chance to volunteer for other Olympic-related activities including the Olympic Torch Relay.
The programme is being administered by the Manchester Volunteer Sport Bureau, which is an Inspire project that has recruited over 2000 volunteers across Manchester over the past 18 months.
The Ambassadors will be given training, which includes taking part in group role plays, learning practical skills such as first aid, discovering how to keep calm in a crisis and becoming skilled at dealing with difficult situations.
Any further residents who want to get involved are invited to visit www.manchestervsb.org to register before the closing date of 31 December 2011.
Olympian Jonathan Edwards launched the Games Time Ambassador Programme during a visit to the Old Trafford stadium, when he pressed a button to contact all the volunteers who have already signed up to the Manchester Volunteer Sport Bureau.
