Civil Emergencies - Emergency Plan

This plan describes how the council will initiate, control and co-ordinate the response to a major incident within its boundaries, including the activities of the service areas expected to be involved.

The council has a number of specific emergency plans including;

  • Service Area Emergency Plans
  • Emergency Contact List
  • Reception Centre Plans
  • Media and Public Information
  • Rabies Plan

There are also other specific emergency plans that the council hold that are produced by specific agencies in conjunction with stakeholders;

  • Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) Off- site Emergency plans
  • Radiation Emergency Preparedness and Public Information Regulation - Emergency Plan
  • Pipeline Safety Regulations - Emergency Plan

Civil Contingencies Act

The Civil Contingencies Act: A Short Guide provides and overview of the act and responsibilities of Category 1 and Category 2 responders to civil emergencies.

The Council's Response in an Emergency

During an emergency Trafford Councilwill co-operate with the emergency services to provide support to the people in its area. The council, upon request, will provide resources available to mitigate the effects of the emergency on people, property, the environment and infrastructure. We will play a key role in co-ordinating the response from the voluntary sector and will endeavour to continue to provide support and care for the local and wider community. We will take the leading role in facilitating the return to normality, providing restoration and regeneration as required.

We will ask public, private and voluntary organisations for their co-operation and support in resolving any difficulties in a combined and co-ordinated response.
