By Debit or Credit Card

If you want to pay your council tax by credit or debit card, you can either:

Card charges

Please note from 1 April 2012 if you use a credit card to pay for a Council service, a transaction charge of 2% will be payable. This reflects the card suppliers’ charges to the Council for accepting credit card payments.

Debit card payments do not incur a transaction charge.

By Direct Debit

Signing up to the direct debit scheme means you don't have to queue up to pay your bill. The scheme offers you complete peace of mind as it is guaranteed by your bank.

At the Post Office or any Payzone Outlet

You can pay by cash or cheque at any Post Office or at any of the 30,000 Payzone Outlets. There is no charge for this service.

To do this you will need a payment card. If you do not have one, you can order a Payment Card.

By Post

Please do not send cash through the post.

Make your cheque payable to 'Trafford Council' and include your name, 8-digit council tax reference number and the property address to which the bill relates on the back of the cheque.

If you want a receipt, please send a stamped addressed envelope with your payment. All cheques should be sent to the address at the bottom of the page.

By Standing Order

If you prefer to pay your council tax by standing order, complete a Standing Order Instruction form and send this to your bank.

Through Girobank

If you want to pay through Girobank, please give your 8-digit council tax reference number and our Girobank number, which is 6174132.
