Business - Security Grants

As part of its continued work to improve security for local businesses, the Council has obtained funds for a new security grant.

If your premises are badly affected by crime, the area you trade in suffers as a result of crime or your industry makes you a high-risk target you may need additional security.

If you are unable to cover the full cost of adequately improving your security and your business is based in Trafford, this grant may be just what you need.

Eligible Costs

Eligible security costs include:

  • Alarms
  • Closed circuit television
  • Security grills and shutters
  • Security fencing
  • Anti-ram posts
  • Security fencing
  • Security landscaping

If a number of traders in one location have the same problems a block application can be considered.

Ineligible costs include security dogs, guards, maintenance or rental costs.
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer these grants to businesses in Old Trafford as all the allocated funding has been taken up.

Application

If you feel that you should apply for these funds, you should firstly ask for a visit from a representative of the Council.

At this visit, your problems and ideas will be discussed and you will be advised as to whether you are eligible to be considered for the grant and receive your application.

Your next step will be to arrange a visit from the Crime Reduction Advisor from the Police. They will assess the security problem and recommend the best solution.

Information Needed

In submitting your application for the security grant, you will need:

  • Detailed description of all proposed work
  • Two estimates for any work to be carried out
  • Your report from the Crime Reduction Advisor
  • A copy of your most recent accounts (help is available to prepare draft accounts if necessary)
  • Your completed application form.

No work must begin before your application is approved!
