Local Economy - Development
The Economic Development Service is responsible for the development and co-ordination of a strategic policy framework to maximise opportunities for all Trafford's businesses and residents.
The Economic Development Service is responsible for the development and co-ordination of a strategic policy framework that allows the borough to take a partnership approach to business support, inward and indigenous investment and employment and skills development issues, in order to maximise local benefit for all Trafford's businesses and residents. This is facilitated by the Trafford Economic Alliance, who for some time have recognised the need for a single, coherent framework to help guide their activities and provide a basis for more effective dialogue with external partners.
We have therefore produced the Trafford Economic Development Plan, which provides a single reference point for economic development issues and will ultimately give a much clearer sense of the priorities for investment in the borough. This document will be available online once it is approved.
The overall aims of the Unit are to:
- Encourage Local Business growth and diversity.
- Promote the area to attract new and sustainable investment.
- Maximise funding opportunities to assist infrastructure development.
- Encourage individuals and organisations to adopt 'Lifelong Learning' to equip them to succeed now and into the future.
- Guide the regeneration of our town centres and suburbs.
The Council encourages competition and sustainability in all areas of the local economy. The Economic Development Service actively promotes the area and offers business development and support, and attempts to remove barriers to investment where possible.
