Councillor Complaints
Changes to the Member Code of Conduct complaints procedure
Members of the Council, and of Parish / Town Councils, are required to follow a statutory Code of Conduct. If you feel that a member has acted in breach of this Code, you may submit a complaint. From 8 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct is moving to the Council's Standards Committee.
How to make a complaint
After 8 May 2008 if you want to complain about the conduct of a member of Trafford Council or a member of one of our parish or town councils, you should download and complete a Members Code of Conduct Complaint Form. Alternatively you can obtain a copy of the form by calling 0161 912 4250 or 0161 912 4298. Once you have completed the form you can return it:
By post:
Chairman of the Assessment Sub-Committee
The Standards Committee
Democratic Services
Room 123, Trafford Town Hall
Talbot Road
Stretford
M32 0TH
If returning the form by post, please mark the envelope "Confidential".
By Email:
member.complaints@trafford.gov.uk
The assessment sub-committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members' Code of Conduct. If you make a complaint to the assessment sub-committee it must be about why you think a member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
