Countryside

Two fifths of the land area of Trafford is countryside, which is as varied and contrasting as the built up area that surrounds it. Carrington Moss to the west with its rich soils supports arable farming. Timperley Wedge to the east on less rich soils suports a mixture of pasture, horticulture and recreational areas.

The Bollin and Mersey Valleys contain a mix of recreational facilities, including playing fields, golf courses, Sale Water Park and Dunham Massey Park which attract visitors from far afield.

The attractiveness of the areas varies as much as the uses do. For many people the countryside is easily accessible along many miles of footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways.

Lots of great work to improve the environment in the countryside for people and wildlife in Trafford has taken place and will continue for future generations.
