Community Involvement in Conservation
Have you ever thought about becoming more involved in the conservation of your local countryside?
Conservation work such as tree planting, hedge-laying and access improvements are popular. Some Volunteers choose to just keep an eye on their chosen site, reporting back to the Warden. Others like to be involved with organising and running events, helping with school groups and Nature Clubs, or welcoming visitors to the Visitor Centres. It's up to you just how much, or how little, you wish to be involved.
At the Urmston Meadows site in the Mersey valley, we presently work in partnership with the Mersey Valley Warden Service and the Friends of Urmston Meadows Conservation Group to make a positive contribution to people and wildlife in Urmston.
The group was set up to provide an opportunity for local people to contribute to the management of their local countryside. To find out more, visit the Friends of Urmston Meadows Conservation Group website.
We would like to hear from anyone who would like to take an active part in looking after our countryside.
