Environmental Health

Environmental Health Officers undertake a wide range of activities to protect public health. These include:

Food Safety and Standards

This involves the inspection of food businesses on a regular basis to ensure compliance with food legislation and to promote safe and healthy eating within the borough.

Workplace Health and Safety

This involves the inspection of businesses on a regular basis to ensure compliance with Health & Safety laws. We also investigate complaints and accident notifications and provide training courses

Public Health and Infectious Disease Control

This involves the investigation of complaints of filthy and/or verminous premises, the investigation of outbreaks of notifiable infectious diseases, the enforcement of smoke free legislation, the control of legionella and cooling tower notifications.
