Fishing

As an angler it is most important for you to know that anyone aged 12 years or over who fishes for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England and Wales must have an Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence.

Before going fishing

Please ensure that you have your rod licence with you on the day. You are required by law to obtain a licence, which entitles the licensee to use a rod and line to fish.

Rod licences are issued by the Post Office and the Environment Agency. They differ from permits (often referred to as tickets or day tickets) which give permission to fish a particular water or waters and are issued by fishery owners, angling clubs and so on.

Rod licences can be purchased from any Post Office in England and Wales. If you wish to find out further information, please visit your local Post Office or contact the Post Office telephone sales line 08457 22 33 44 or visit:

The Post Office Website (for Full and Junior licences only).

Alternatively, visit the Environment Agency Website

To obtain further information on fishing at Trafford Water Park in Sale, please contact the Trafford Water Sport Centre on 0161 962 0118. The Centre sells fishing permits for the lake.
