Local Development Framework
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has been enacted to establish a new system for the preparation of spatial development plans across the country. This new system is intended to streamline the local planning process and promote a proactive, positive approach to managing development.
What is the Local Development Framework (LDF)?
This section describes the general process and background to Trafford's LDF.
Development plan documents
This section contains planning policy documents. At the moment the following documents are available:
- Core Strategy
- Partington Area Action Plan
- Land Allocations Plan
- Greater Manchester Joint Waste Development Plan Document
- Greater Manchester Joint Minerals Development Plan Document
The LDF includes a number of themed documents called Development Plan Documents (DPD's). These set out spatial policies and proposals, with an explanation of why these have been developed for Trafford and how they are intended to work.
These documents provide additional information to assist with the interpretation and implementation of policies set out within the "saved" Policies and Proposals of the Revised UDP.
Consultations
Trafford Core Strategy: Further Consultation on The Vision, Strategic Objectives and Delivery Strategy will be running from Monday 8 March to 5.00 pm on Friday 16th April 2010. Details can be found on the Core Strategy page.
Trafford maintains a database to facilitate community involvement in consultations. Individuals or organisations that wish to be included on this data base should contact the Strategic Planning and Developments Team.
