Planning Policy - Strategic
The Strategic Planning section is involved at the strategic level in the development, monitoring and review of a range of policy topic areas and documents for the Borough, including:
- Land Use Planning Policy and the Unitary Development Plan
- Spatial Planning Policy and Local Development Framework
- Transport Planning Policy and the GM Local Transport Plan
- Housing Planning Policy - Trafford Housing Strategy
- Environmental/Sustainable Development Planning Policy
In support of the above the section collects and compiles an array of information including:
- Housing and Business Land Availability Schedules and Development Information
- Retail Analysis Information
- Population and Employment Census Information

Consultations
The Council is currently undertaking a further consultation on the Further Preferred Option for the Trafford Core Strategy following the Preferred Options consultation which ended in August 2008. This consultation runs from 29th June 2009 until 10th August 2009. Formal Publication of the Plan will take place at the end of the year. Details of the conultation can be found here
Trafford maintains a database to facilitate community involvement in consultations. Individuals or organisations that wish to be included on this data base should contact the Strategic Planning and Developments Team.
