Planning Policy - Strategic
The Strategic Planning section is involved at the strategic level in the development, monitoring and review of a range of policy topic areas and documents for the Borough, including:
- Land Use Planning Policy and the Unitary Development Plan
- Spatial Planning Policy and Local Development Framework
- Transport Planning Policy and the GM Local Transport Plan
- Housing Planning Policy - Trafford Housing Strategy
- Environmental/Sustainable Development Planning Policy
In support of the above the section collects and compiles an array of information including:
- Housing and Business Land Availability Schedules and Development Information
- Retail Analysis Information
- Population and Employment Census Information

New Planning Guidance - Land at Cross Street, Sale
The Council has prepared a planning development brief to encourage and guide the future redevelopment of a site in Cross Street in Sale identified as a 'major development opportunity' in the adopted A56 Corridor Development Guidelines SPD.
Consultation on this draft Planning Development Brief closed on 2nd April 2007. All representations received during the consultation have been collated and are summarised in a schedule of consultation comments with responses, which is available to view in the following Consultation Report:

In March 2007 the Leader of the Council delegated approval for this Planning Development Brief to the Executive Member for Strategic Planning, Property and Prosperity. In accordance with this resolution this Planning Development Brief was adopted on the 18th June 2007 for development control purposes.
