Air Pollution

Most people are aware that the air we breathe is not always as clean and pure as we would like it to be. This is an unfortunate consequence of the way we live, but if air pollution is monitored and controlled it will not adversely affect the health of the large majority of people. The main pollutants in urban air arise from road transport and industry.

Details of current air quality for Trafford and in other Greater Manchester Boroughs can be viewed on the Great Air Manchester website.

Bonfires and statutory nuisance

Trafford has declared the borough a smoke control area. The Pollution and Licensing Section investigate complaints of bonfires and the use of non-smokeless fuels.

Reporting Bonfires and Smoking Chimneys
