Our promise
We will:
- Respond to requests for services within three working days
- Investigate serious or urgent matters immediately (for example, a food poisoning outbreak or a serious accident at work where there is an imminent or significant risk to health)
- Give clear written advice to businesses on what they need to do to comply with legal requirements
- Enforce the law in a proportionate, consistent and open manner in accordance with the Council’s agreed Enforcement Policy.
Animal health and welfare
Inspecting farms and smallholdings, licensing animal establishments and investigating complaints relating to the welfare of animals.
Food safety and standards
Inspecting food businesses, providing food safety advice and training, investigating complaints about food safety and standards and alleged cases of food poisoning.
Health and safety at work
Inspecting business premises and investigating complaints and work related accidents to ensure that shops, offices, warehouses, catering and leisure activities comply with health and safety laws.
Public health
Regulating business activities of public health significance and control of the spread of infectious diseases within the community and the regulation of acupuncture, ear piercing, tattooing and electrolysis.
