The Strategic Planning service is responsible for guiding future development in the Borough in line with the Trafford 2021: A Blueprint Vision.

Local development framework
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has been enacted to establish a new system for the preparation of spatial development plans across the country.

Unitary development plan
The Revised Trafford Unitary Development Plan was adopted in 2006 and currently remains part of the Development Plan for Trafford. It sets out Policies and Proposals for how land is to be used and developed in the Trafford area over the next 15 to 20 years.
