What is the Local Development Framework (LDF)?

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has been enacted to establish a new system for the preparation of spatial development plans across the country. This new system is intended to streamline the local planning process and promote a proactive, positive approach to managing development.

This section describes the general process and background to Trafford's LDF.

Development plan documents

This section contains planning policy documents. At the moment the following documents are available:

The LDF includes a number of themed documents called Development Plan Documents (DPD's). These set out spatial policies and proposals, with an explanation of why these have been developed for Trafford and how they are intended to work.

These documents provide additional information to assist with the interpretation and implementation of policies set out within the Core Strategy and the "saved" Policies and Proposals of the Revised UDP.

Consultations

Trafford maintains a database to facilitate community involvement in consultations. Individuals or organisations that wish to be included on this data base should contact Strategic Planning and Developments.

Annual Monitoring Report

The Council has published its seventh Annual Monitoring Report under the requirements of the planning regulations. It contains information on the implementation of the Local Development Scheme and the extent to which the Policies set out in the Trafford Local Development Framework are being achieved.
