Deaf Genie Project
What is the Genie Project?
In 1996 a deaf lady called Jeannie Robinson left a legacy to deaf people in Trafford. In 2005 the money was given to NCH The Children;s Charity and a project was set up to help deaf people in Trafford. Two years later the funding was coming to an end. deaf people were worried because the project was so popular and successful so NCH agreed to support the project to become independent.
Claire Johnson, the original project worker, and a committee of volunteers took over the project. The project left NCH The Children's Charity in 2007 and became a registered charity in its own right called Genie Networks.
Genie Networks has come a long way since its inception and we owe its existence to the generous gift originally left by Jeannie Robinson back in 1996. We are sure she would be proud of the contribution she has made to improving the lives of deaf people in Trafford.
