About the plan

A healthy diet has been recognised as a key factor in helping to reduce the risk of a number of diseases such as heart disease, some cancers and type two diabetes. To enable all of Trafford’s residents to enjoy a healthy diet and therefore contribute to improved health, a three year action plan was developed with the aim of reducing barriers and improving accessing to good nutritious food.

Trafford’s Food for Health Action Plan (2010 - 2013) was jointly developed by Trafford Council, NHS Trafford and Trafford Children and Young People's Service. The action plan focuses on key audiences including pregnancy and early years, children and young people (5 - 16 years), community initiatives, workforce development and training and older people.

For more information on the action plan or any of the initiatives outlined within it please contact us using the details supplied on this page.
