Licence - Door Supervisors

Door Supervisors working at nightclubs and similar premises must be registered under a local scheme. The scheme involves a criminal record check and other procedures designed to ensure that Door Supervisors are fit and the proper persons have been properly trained.

From August 2004, the new Security Industry Authority is taking over all Local Door Supervisor Schemes and will be running them centrally. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has been set up by the Government to issue licences instead. In future, door supervisors will need only one licence to work anywhere in England and Wales. It will be against the law to work as a door supervisor without an SIA licence. The SIA will only grant licences to people who have the right skills and training to do the job, and who can pass a criminal background check.

For more information contact the SIA on 08702 430 100 or view the Security Industry Authority Website.
