Recommending Stock

How can I recommend items for stock?

To recommend new stock you can:

All suggestions will be considered for purchase but we cannot guarantee that titles suggested will be bought.

If there is a book which you would particularly like to read which is not in stock or on order at any of our libraries, you can complete a reservation card in the usual way and hand to staff. There is a small charge for this, which should be paid at the library when you hand in the reservation card.

What can I recommend?

You can recommend any of the following items:

  • Books
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • Talking books

How will I know if you have bought the item I recommend?

Unfortunately, individual notifications cannot be sent. Each month, new stock will be listed here:

Newly published books are sometimes recommended for stock at the same time as they are being ordered. Please check the Online Catalogue regularly to see if the book has been ordered or is in stock.

Why have you not bought my recommendation?

  • The item may be out of print.
  • We may decide to purchase a different edition, such as a paperback, which has not yet been published.
  • The item may not be available in the format asked for, such as Large Print or Audio Book.
