Improvement Board Update March - August 2020
Posted: Friday 16th October 2020
As the national lockdown due to Covid-19 came into place, with as many people working from home as possible, the full Improvement Board Meeting on 31st March was cancelled. However, the group did still meet in response to the unprecedented situation around Covid-19 to review how the Children’s Improvement Board would operate during this period.
A reduced Board membership, with an interim Terms of Reference that reflected the need to engage and inform partners, was agreed.
The Ofsted monitoring visit was cancelled but the Improvement Plan activity prepared for this visit was shared with the Board and the group noted that the timeframe for some of these activities had changed due to the pandemic.
Weekly reviews were held operationally to monitor risk to children and the Board continued to meet, virtually, monthly in order to:
- Receive highlight reports from the Director of Children’s Services and Department for Education updates
- Review workforce arrangements and audit findings
- Monitor performance data on the impact of Covid-19 in practice, as well as updated performance trends
- Hear partner updates
Further meetings were held on – 28 April, 31 May. 23 June and 4 August 2020.
In addition work continued on the changes to the Improvement Plan.
