Food Premises Operators

If you operate food premises you may need to be approved by us

Examples of types of premises that are required to be approved local authorities are stand alone (i.e. not attached to a slaughter house, cutting plant or game handling establishment):

  • meat processing plants
  • meat preparation plants
  • minced meat processing operations and mechanically separated meat processing plants
  • cold stores

How to apply

To apply, you need to complete an application for food premises approval or find the application within the application pack which contains further guidance on the approval process.

Next steps

Our target date for dealing with these applications is 28 days. You can not assume your application has been granted once this time period has expired. If you have not heard from us within 56 days contact us.
