Economic Development in Trafford

Our Economic Development Service is responsible for the development and co-ordination of a strategic policy framework to maximise opportunities for all Trafford's businesses and residents.

This allows the borough to take a partnership approach to business support, inward and indigenous investment and employment and skills development issues, facilitated by the Trafford Economic Alliance.

The overall aims of the service are to:

  • Encourage Local Business growth and diversity
  • Promote the area to attract new and sustainable investment
  • Maximise funding opportunities to assist infrastructure development
  • Encourage individuals and organisations to adopt 'Lifelong Learning' to equip them to succeed now and into the future
  • Guide the regeneration of our town centres and suburbs.

The Council encourages competition and sustainability in all areas of the local economy. The Economic Development Service actively promotes the area and offers business development and support, and attempts to remove barriers to investment where possible.

We are now in the process of updating the Trafford Economic Development Plan, a single reference point for economic development issues and identifying the priorities for investment in the borough. This document is planned to be made available online in October, once approved by the Trafford Economic Alliance.
