Worthington Park
Worthington Park is located on Cheltenham Drive in the centre of Sale. The park has been redeveloped with the planting of 27,000 native trees. The main planting scheme originates from plants purchased from the Sale Botanical Gardens using late Victorian planting styles.

Items of Interest
The park has many original features including the bandstand, a bronze bust of Dr J P Joule (1818 - 1889, the famous local physicist who lived nearby in Wardle Road), and attractive entrance feature gates. The Stone Lion which used to be a prominent feature of the Park was recently moved to a new site at Sale Waterside.

The Friends of Worthington Park organise events and projects.
History
Worthington Park has been a popular area for recreation since the late Mrs. Worthington donated the land in 1900. Until 1950 it was known as Sale Park, but was later re-named Worthington Park during the Golden Jubilee (when an oak was planted by Viscount Leverhulme) in memory of the benefactor, Mrs Worthington.
