Woodheys Park

Woodheys Park can be found on Kenmore Road, off Woodhouse Lane in Sale. The park is approximately 7.5 hectares in size and is situated close to Ashton-on-Mersey. The park consists of a well-maintained pitch and putt course, a grass area and a woodland area.

Park Facilities

  • 18 hole pitch and putt course
  • Under 7's Play Area
  • 5-a-side football pitch (portable goalposts available from Friends Group).

Pitch and Putt Course

The 18 hole pitch and putt golf course offers a fun round of golf for the beginner as well as the more confident player. It is excellent for honing your short game!

To use the Pitch and Putt Course a tickets must be purchased from the pavilion. The prices range from:

  • Adult - £3.50
  • Child - £1.80
  • Senior Citizens - £1.80

The course is open Monday - Sunday 10.30am - 6.30am (last tee Spring/Summer time) later as the night draw out. 

During Winter months, last tee will be much earlier depending on the light.

Function Room

Woodheys park pavillion is an ideal venue for meetings and other events.

The spacious meeting room can hold up to maximum of 30-40 people depending on the lay out of the room and whether tables and chairs are required.

Items of Interest

The woodland at the bottom of the park is a protected area, acting as a nature reserve and important wildlife corridor.

Friends Group

The Friends of Woodheys Park have been very active since their formation in 2001, raising many thousands of pounds for the playground and community building.

History

Unlike some of the Boroughs traditional parks Woodheys Park was opened in the early 1970s. The site was formerly used as farmland and is still known to some as 'Pinky Park' because pigs from a field across the brook frequently strayed into the park.
