Potholes

A pothole is where the surface of the road, pavement or footway has been worn away to form a hollow. The Council, as Highway Authority, has responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the Highway.

Potholes can be a risk to road users and pedestrians. If you would like to tell us about a pothole, please give as many details as possible. This will help us to assess the extent of risk involved.

What you will need to tell us:

  • Exact location (please state road name)
  • Nearest landmark (for example nearest house number or street light number)
  • Town/area
  • Is the pothole on the pavement, footway or road?
  • Width of pothole
  • Depth of pothole
