Keeping Warm in Winter
Cold weather can bring health risks to many people - older people, people on low incomes, disabled people and people with long-term conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease.
Free Keep Warm Keep Well Winter Guides are available online and also being distributed throughout the borough. They are packed with information about the financial help and benefits available as well as tips on heating your home effectively and staying healthy.

One way of saving money on heating bills is to have insulation installed so that warmth doesn't escape quickly. Around 30% of household heat escapes through poorly insulated walls and 25% through lofts that are not insulated. People aged over 70 or in receipt of certain benefits may have insulation work carried out free of charge.
Trafford residents may also receive £70 reduction in council tax if they have this home insulation work done. For more information or to make an appointment call 0845 971 7731 and quote the reference TRAF.
People who receive state pension or other benefits should automatically get a Winter Fuel Payment to help with the cost of heating their homes.
Warm Front Scheme
Warm Front is a government-funded scheme which provides grants to make homes warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient.
