Apart from offering a friendly, efficient library service, Stretford Library also houses a Citizens Advice Bureau on the ground floor. The first floor houses a Trafford Learning Libraries learndirect centre offering a wide range of courses. A learndirect PC is available on the ground floor for those with disabilities.

Self-service machine

Stretford Library has two new self-service machines which you will find easy to use. You can use the machines to:

  • Take out items
  • Return items
  • Renew items
  • Pay library charges
  • Look at your borrower account

The self-service machines have touch screens and clear instructions on each screen. Staff will be available to provide any help needed with using the machines.

What's on

  • Storytime for under 5s is every Tuesday at 2.15pm
  • Baby Rhyme Time every Friday at 2.30pm, for children under two and their parents
  • We have two Readers' Groups. Group one meets on the third Wednesday of the month. Group two meets on the fourth Thursday of the month.
  • Stretford Bookworm Chatterbooks Group, for 8 to 10 year olds, meets on Saturday morning once a month. Please ask library staff for more details
  • Coffee morning once a month - please contact the library for details
  • Silver surfers session once a month on a Monday morning - please contact the library for further details
  • Knit Wits - an informal group that meets fortnightly on Saturday mornings to learn new stitches, swap patterns and chat about knitting.
  • Trafford Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service - third Monday of the month 10.30am - 12.30pm

  • Non-fiction books ranging from popular interest topics to more academic subjects, in some cases up to AS and A level

For 14+

  • A wide range of material chosen to appeal to this age group

For Children

  • Stories for all ages from the youngest up to 13+
  • Junior non-fiction
  • DVDs, Talking Books

Items which are not in stock at Stretford Library but are available from another Trafford library can be requested free of charge.
