20/07/2008 - All of Trafford - Channel 4 Education Opportunity

Are you aged 15 - 19 and want to make a film about you and your mates for Channel 4 Education?

Lambent Productions are making a set of ten films for Channel 4 Education with and about 15 - 19 year olds looking at friendships and relationships and how friendship groups help each other out and navigate those tricky relationship issues. Each half-hour programme in will be about a different group of friends and a different issue that one person would like advice on.

Filming for the series is very much an interactive process in which the young people will get the chance to do some filming themselves from their perspectives alongside the filming we will be doing. We will be seeking their input and making sure they are happy at every stage, right through to the editing. We hope our young people will feel a strong sense of ownership towards their film. Filming will take place for about a week this summer so it won't disrupt other school or college commitments.

Lambent Productions believe in working closely with contributors to tell their stories, and believe in treating people with respect and dignity. In ten years we've never made a programme of which a contributor wasn't proud, and we're always keen that everyone involved in the filming process gets something positive and productive from it. To find out more about us take a look at our website: www.lambentproductions.co.uk

If you have any questions at all about the project do give me a call on or 07779271135.

15/07/2008 - Waterside Arts Centre - Bridgewater Canal litter pick

FRIENDS OF THE BRIDGEWATER CANAL, SALE

The Bridgewater Canal is probably Sale`s most significant and historic feature, but sadly one that is unappreciated by most. A new Friends group has been set up just recently in an attempt to correct this, the Friends of the Bridgewater Canal, Sale. Its aims will be to encourage people to be generally more aware of the Bridgewater Canal, to value and enjoy it, and accordingly to respect the canal and care for it. More specifically, we shall publicise the canal in the local press, organise events relating to the canal, and, in the fullness of time seek funding for specific projects. One ongoing activity will be to keep the canal tow-path clear of litter, and as a first step the Friends are having a litter-pick along the Sale stretch of the canal on the evening of Tuesday, 15 July. We are pleased to acknowledge the support of Peel Holdings, the owners of the Bridgewater Canal, and Trafford MBC in the organisation and equipping of this event.

Anyone interested in joining the Friends of the Bridgewater Canal, Sale, should contact Jim Smart (james.smart4@ntlworld.com) or Dave Sykes (Trafford Parks Development Officer, 0161 912 5599).
Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing to suit the conditions

13/09/2008 - All of Trafford - Royal Exchange Young Peoples Theatre Workshop

The Young People's Theatre Workshop is a regular group for anyone aged 14 - 19 who wants to explore the world of theatre and work with professional mentors to create their own performances. The group isn't just for performers but for young people with an interest in any aspect of creating theatre - from writing, to design, lighting, sound and stage management.

The group runs annually from September to March, with sessions on Tuesday evenings from 5.30 - 7.30pm and on occasional Saturdays. All sessions take place at the Royal Exchange Theatre. The group is FREE to participants, although we do ask that a small contribution is made towards ticket costs for theatre visits.

Application rates are high for the 30 places which are currently available per year. These places are allocated on the basis of a taster session (see below) and completion of a short application form and reference - there are no auditions or interviews. We're looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals who are keen to work with a team of other young people, and we aim to build a diverse group made up of individuals who are interested in the many different aspects of the theatrical process.

HOW TO APPLY
Taster sessions will take place throughout the day on Saturday 13th September 2008 at the Royal Exchange. These sessions are your chance to find out what it's all about, ask any questions you may have and pick up an application form for the group. Just like YPTW, the taster sessions will include a variety of different activities - not all of them drama based. If you are exclusively interested in the backstage elements of the group (e.g. writing, lighting, sound, design) and don't want to perform, then the 2pm workshop may be best suited to you.

Taster workshop times:

10 - 11.30am

12 - 1.30pm

2 - 3.30pm (focus on backstage elements of the group for those who don't want to perform)

4 - 5.30pm

To find out more about the project, or to book a place on one of the taster sessions please contact Kate Reynolds (Education Administrator)

main emphasis will be on having fun simply by playing football. There is
provision for indoor cover in the event of inclement weather, so the odd
shower or two won't stop the action.

The age group catered for is 6 to 14 years old and players will be split
into groups relative to their age and previous experience if they have
any.
Players can book for a full week at £55 or a daily rate of £20 per day. At
the end of each week participants will receive a certificate of

Sale United are an FA Charter Standard Development Club and in February
this
year Sir Trevor Brooking, the FA's Director of Football Development visited
the
Club and praised the standard of coaching being employed which is in line
with the FA's teaching philosophy. Sale United also has a good working
relationship with Manchester United which in recent years has seen a
number
of their rising stars attending to help with the presentation of special
awards at the event. These include Chris Eagles, Frazier Campbell, Michael
Lea & Evando Brandao. Application forms for those wishing to sign up for
the
course can be obtained by ringing the Club office on 0161 905 3088
