Removing barriers to employment
We try to make sure that all people who are looking for jobs have an equal chance of getting them and at the same time that everyone employed by the Council has an equal chance of promotion and development.
Some applicants and employees may be disadvantaged for example because of their backgrounds or home commitments or because employers have preconceived ideas about what certain people can or cannot do. This can, also apply to those individuals or groups referred to in the revised Policy Statement.
We want to remove barriers to employment, promotion and development so that all employees have equal access to these on the basis of ability and the requirements of the job and we will seek to ensure no employee suffers less favourable conditions of service as a result of discriminatory practices.
It is important that everyone who works for the us shares this aim and understands the role they have to play In making sure that all people are treated fairly.
