I really don't get this.. How can parking in a commercial and industrial area like Trafford park cause an obstruction on evenings and weekends when most firms are only there throughout the week.

Yep, I understand that businesses like the Containerbase are 365 days, 24/7 but these are few and far between. I know, I am regularly around there in unsociable hours but on Match days any cars causing obstructions can be dealt with under existing laws.

It annoys me when existing laws are not enforced properly and rather than use existing powers they resort to money making schemes, mind you it is only United which are being hit and so I don't really know why I am bothered. :-)

Barlow Rd & Hornby Rds must be the only 2 roads within the vicinity of OT that dont have a residents parking scheme which needs to be addressed before any pay & display is contemplated on Warwick Rd, also these 2 roads have parking restrictions 9-5.
Warwick Rd is the only parking available.

Exclamation Parking Restrictions

Yes, it's uncanny these are about the only two. We get more than our fair .share of visits by Private Sector (hence Revenue Collection Focussed) attendants. The only good thing is I've noticed a reduction in the number of Bentleys, Maseratis and Porsches amongst the cars parked on match days, but then again a Company Audi or Merc would make a good third or fourth car to use for such an occasion. These people I'm sure have Susan Williams' ear. The likes of us don't. We need to find a way of thwarting these selfish people: They're too used to thwarting us by default.
One other issue is the urination/urinal problem which I have complained to the council about after the Foo Fighters (or was it Disaster Area?) concert some time back. I know that's out of this thread but other people I know have mentioned this.
We need to compile a list of issues, perhaps with readily available technology alert the local press and give the council and the corporate élite a bumpy ride.

They came around Hornby Road the other day putting up new signs giving the restriction times. I suspect they are up to something as there was nothing wrong with the signs that were already up, but now they have put up extra ones. I have also noticed more cars parking on Hornby recently so maybe that's why!

[QUOTE=Bryanrobson'sliver;1803]well it gets worse as the council are planning to charge/fine people for parking in and around trafford park on matchdays. Whilst this isn't going to bother me to much it will affect my fellow employee's.

So you empathise with your employees but what else are you going to do about it? why not get in touch with your local councillor and also your local MP's at least 2 of them are Labour- we moan but don't do anything about it.

So do something about it- take it up with the local police- I hear the Chief is a very reasonable woman!! More reasonable than the Leader of the Council!!!

Thumbs down Trafford Park Parking Restrictions

For goodness sake, let the workers park in Trafford Park, Yellow Lines are going to appear where there is no problem. Man Utd play when most workers have gone home so this is again another money raising scheme aka a TAX

get's Worse just had a call from my colleague who applied for the permits for our driverts etc...£170 each permit. oh and they have massively restricted the available places to park by putting loads of yellow lines all over the place.

Trafford Council..I'd appreciate a reply on this as is smack's of legalised theft to be honest and not Match day parking control measures as you initially claimed it to be. with congestion charges coming in before the improvements for TP and now restricted parking and fines for those who genuinely need to be parked there whilst at work are you aiming to drive (sic) people out to other area's? Warrington maybe?

Idiots.

Well Bryanrobson'silver I don't think that the Council takes into consideration the impact their actions will have on residents and local business. Why should you have to pay to park on a weekday in Trafford Park is beyon me, the Council is supposed to help all business's and residents and not just Peel, Tesco and LCCC. The odd thing about the original charges I started this thread about down Elsinor Road, is that the Metrolink extension to Chorlton will start early next year. In the original planning application this meant the demolition of the business's between Arkady and Ayres Road(already done) for the new south Manchester Metrolink sidings, the extension runs along the old goods train line from Trafford Bar and along with the spurs coming off the Altrincham line for the sidings means Elsinor Road will be closed to traffic between Arkady and Ayres Road. So this means that Trafford Council is wasting tax payers money painting double yellow lines along this stretch for about a years worth of use, is there any point? The money saved could pay for your permits!!

Default warwick road parking update

I have just heard from my local councillor that the council have decided to put new pay and display areas in on Warwick Road - the residents were never consulted about this, we only knew because the councillor came and told us as he thought we should know! The Pay and display will operate 9-5 Monday to Friday.
