I store plastic bottles and cardboard seperately from our general rubbish for monthly disposal at Stretford tip and ASDA for the plastic. A recent trip to ASDA found that their plastic skip was over flowing and everyone had to put their plastic on the floor which was being blown around by the wind. On the same day I attended Stretfiord tip to find the cardboard section was gone and replased with a general sign, on asking the supervisor where I could recycle my cardboard, the reply was to throw it in the general waste section??? You could emagine my responce.
My question to Trafford is: are you commited to global warming and recycling or not, from my experience the latter, I think it is high time Trafford take the bull by the horns and provide all residents full recycling rights and stop bowing down to the very few people whom are against it. You tend to have to time it right at Sinderland to ensure cardboard is recylced. There are 2 good size skips for plastic bottles we use behind Timperley library but I've had the same experience taking cardboard to the tip, whereby the containers have all been full and I've been told to tip it in the general waste.
Smaller cardboard objects now go in my compost bin at home but I tend to bring the cardboard home if the tip is full rather than putting it in with the rubbish, which in turn lands me with storage problems at home |

I have used the Sinderland Road and the Stretford recycling area and have always found both to be fairly good in comparison to the Sharston tip.
Stretford is always very busy but at least you can get in there and they do try and guide you to the right section even if moving around it is difficult and dangerous if you are dropping at multiple points. Something needs to be looked at about multiple drop-off's as with the multitude of different areas now it can be quite dangerous. |
