Since the smoking ban at pubs , how many of us just have a drink at home and don’t bother with the local pub anymore ,

All depends on the occasion and the weather!

I was in the Railway in Hale tonight, excellent evening.
The smoking ban has improved that pub 10-fold, when smoking was allowed I had to leave after a couple of pints because I stank and my eyes hurt.

I think we go out less but we've had an extra child in the relevant timeframe which complicates it

Have to admit that some pubs have improved (although as an ex-smoker I sometimes miss the "fug" for whatever reason that the next day visit brings)

However what we do find is that alot of pubs are now unpleasant to visit in the summer as the beer gardens are packed with smokers

So more often we'll stop in and save money but when we do go out I think we have a better night as a result as it's often for a more special reason than a weekly drink and perhaps we choose our pubs more carefully.

Then there's the pubs that perhaps offer a place for us to eat as a family or somewhere to watch a game of football that's not available on the "other" satellite channels

pubs are good if you have kids in the home.

I suppose the 'Should children be allowed into pubs' argument is still a valid debate.

I used to drink in the there, occasionally. I remember the first night I stepped into the place, there was Bryan Robson and some bloke from Coronation Street, standing at the bar chatting about football. There was very friendly and relaxed atmosphere which made me feel right at home.

Default As a smoker

As a smoker even I can agree that the smoking ban has improved the quality of pubs and bars. Its a much better atmosphere without smoking although admittedly we do stay in more now than we used to. But then that’s also brought more positives then negatives.

In addition to the above I also have friends that have given up smoking as a result of the ban coming in to force. Absolutely brilliant.
