Default Catholic Records Go Digital

People may be interested that the Salford Roman Catholic Diocese, which covers North Trafford including Stretford and Urmston has setup a new resource for researchers interested in local and family Catholic history. The new archive centre is located behind St Augustine's Church, Grosvenor Square, Manchester and is open free to the public every Tuesday from 2pm. For more information and resources please visit our new website SDARegisters.co.uk

A series of Digital Data CDs containing parish registers for RC Churches in Greater Manchester are also being prepared and released and are available from this site. So far St Ann's Church Stretford, St Alphonsus Church Old Trafford, St Anthony Church Trafford Park and Barton Catholic Cemetery have been completed

We are also asking local people who might have any Catholic records, photos or other memorabilia in their possession to consider donating them, to preserve them for the future and to help expand our publicly available collections.

Sorry to sound flippant, but it's a shame that the Vatican isn't as forthcoming with its records of paedophile priests.
