Default Any Updates

All,

I'm sure everyone has seen it, but if not - Altrincham Forward is an interesting read with what looks like quite a good action plan.

My only concern is that it any outcome seems a few years off and in the meantime, there's still a stack of things happening / not happening in the town.

I know I've asked before and I've personally lost touch with some of the developments.

Altair
  • Last I heard, the ATP place had gone for compulsory purchase and that it was full steam ahead.
  • It's all gone quiet on that front now.

Station House
  • Loads of scaffolding - seems to be progressing well in my opinion.
Interchange
  • Slated to commence this autumn.
The Station Pub
  • Getting a face lift. Lets hope it can breath new life into that end of town.
Stamford Qrter
  • Phase III, ie the bit round to (and incl) House of Fraser seems to have died a death.
  • The paving has been refreshed but only around phase I and II and it looks a right hotch-potch.
  • Did they run out of money?
Old McDonalds and Old Pizza Hut
  • Anyone know what's happening here?
Old Post Office
  • Anyone know what's happening here
Kings Court
  • Last I heard Jaspers was returning and possible another restaurant.
Hospital
  • Apologies, I've forgotten when this is going to start, was it the autumn?
  • The Altrincham Forward proposal also mentions the existing hospital.
Travelodge
  • All completed.
  • Not sure what's happening to the bar underneath though. It looks as if there's a refurb going on.
Cinema
  • The old Chiquitos close down.
  • I heard this was going to become a training centre for The Restaurant Group plc, who own Chiquito, F&Bs, Garfunkel's and Filling Station.
  • I've never seen anyone go in or out the place.

Thanks

Interesting, just downloaded and printed for reading later.

The key thing with all these plans is....Does it say where the money is coming from? If not, it is all 'pie in the sky'.

Stamford Qtr Phase 3 postponed indefinately

Altair - I've heard through work (a reasonably reliable source) that a large supermarket have been sniffing around the site and have made a very interesting offer!!!! I have no other details and it's just a rumour, but the source is usually not far off the mark!

I had a walk around Altrincham on Tuesday for about an hour or more and it made me so SAD all those empty shops .a pal closed her cafe down a few months ago no money and too much RENT .
So Sad but I think Altrincham has had it ,I drove round regent road car park for about half an hour before I found a space .
It is so sad when I had a shop there was over 32 members of the FEDERATION of MEAT TRADERS today there is none .
And when the new Hospital is finished just where will we park .
I still like to shop in our village TIMPERLEY the local shops are great .

I seem to recall hearing something similar and believe that the supermarket in question was Asda. I sincerely hope the planners block such a move. Another supermarket would be the end of Altrincham.

Looking at it, I actually believe that Broadheath has caused Altrincham centre more problems than the likes of Manchester and/or the Trafford Centre. McDonalds and Pizza Hut both moved out to Broadheath, as did JJB Sports. I also see that Argos has closed in Altrincham, but didn't have time to read the sign to see whether it was a refurb or permanent.

Altrincham will only survive if independent traders are attracted as well as a few (and I mean a few) chain stores.
It has to be different from the hideous Trafford Centre.
