Anyone know why there was an Army Air Gazelle type helicopter hovering around the borough since Sunday? It seems to have been doing a lot of reconnaissance work over the South of the Borough, near Sale Water Park. It has been flitting between Manchester Airport and Barton to refuel. Not often we get the military in these here parts, just wondering what was going on.

I spotted it too, I got the feeling it was on some sort of surveillance exercise.
Perhaps Timperley is going to be invaded. JJ |

Maybe we're due some dignitaries in town and they were doing a recce of the route. Who knows? It had a camera fitted and some dipole type antenna's on the nose cone. Tried the usual mil-air frequencies on the receiver but nothing. However, I did manage to hear the pilot talking to Manchester Approach and Barton Tower on their respective frequencies. He wasn't giving much away though!
