The bugler who normally plays the last post and reveille at the annual act of remembrance at the War Memorial in Hale Barns was missing today. Additionally this year there was no PA system. Both these facilities I understand are normally organised by Trafford Council. One of the local councillors was extremely apologetic, but had no idea why. I wonder if anything similar happened at other Trafford war memorials or if it was just a one off problem?

I have heard today that Hale Barns War Memorial was not the only Remembrance Day venue hit by problems. Bowdon also did not receive it usual PA system. Sadly, the explanations as to why there has been a problem have not been forthcoming. The lack of respect this type of thing conveys is a sad reflection on those who carry the leadership responsibility for these matters.

There have been a fair number of letters in the press about this topic, however this letter
http://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk...ponsibilities/ published today on The Messenger web site, provides for the first time a limited explanation whatever ‘technical failures’ is meant to mean. The inability of our elected officials to come out and publically respond to such an important matter is a sad reflection on both themselves and their leader. |

Methinks it`s down to "the kids" in the council offices who don`t really have a clue just what is going on in the world & spend all their time playing games on the computers instead of working ...!!!
