Last year Trafford Council undertook its biggest ever consultation: the Trafford Spending Challenge. Faced with financial pressures the Council asked the people of Trafford to get involved in how the Council could make changes to services in order to meet the necessary budget savings.
There was a fantastic response, which helped the Council set its budget for 2011/12 including saving £13m by reviewing back office processes, getting the most out of our contracts and reducing bureaucracy and management costs. The Council also, in response to residents' priorities, invested more in Adult Social Care and Children's Social Care, maintained Community Safety and Community Action Teams and targeted resources towards accident hotspots on our roads.
By 2015 we need to find a further £42 million of savings, with £16.1m of those savings needed next year. The Council believes that by continuing to transform how services are delivered we can make savings whilst maintaining quality. We want to hear your ideas and understand your priorities to help us make the tough decisions about what the Council delivers in the future for the borough of Trafford.
