Courageous brothers rescue woman

Courageous brothers Stephen and Simon Bradburn didn't hesitate before rushing in to help at the scene of an emergency when a car crashed into a shop in Timperley.

The reluctant heroes came across the incident, on Park Road, as they were on their way to their first job of the day as part of Trafford Council's highway roadworks team.

On the scene before the emergency services, they sprang into action, calming down a woman trapped in the wreckage, distributing hard hats to those at the scene in case the roof of the building collapsed, and making sure the car engine was switched off.

They went on to assist the emergency services by moving rubble, offered both their wheelbarrow and chainsaw to help with the operation, and helped to direct traffic away from the scene to keep the area clear.

Stephen said: "It was dangerous - the ceiling looked like it could fall in at any minute. But we just wanted to make sure that the people there were safe."

Watch manager Phil Hoskins, of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, who was on the scene, said: "It is hard to put into words how invaluable their assistance was. They were there from start to finish and they deserve recognition for their actions on that day."
