Tempting treats went to market for 'Taste of Trafford'
A sample of war time treats tempted visitors at the Cheshire Show in June.
Organisers of the 'Taste of Trafford' celebration - the borough's own food and drink festival - were at the show to promote Trafford as the place to visit.
Now in its fourth year, 'Taste Sensation '08' will be on the earlier date of Sunday 21 September in Altrincham.
With the event falling on Battle of Britain Sunday organisers are arranging some forties style entertainment for the occasion and to mark this, two of Trafford's local eateries - Fat Loaf in Ashton on Mersey and The Lavendar Barn on the Dunham Massey estate provided cakes to original wartime recipes for visitors to taste. There were also drinks from local producers to wash the cakes down. Beer from the Dunham Massey Brewing Company and wine from Plot 19 in Flixton were available to sample as well as dandelion and burdock and ginger beer providing evocative memories of childhood drinks.
This year, the festival has teamed up with Cheshire Cat, organisers of the popular Hale Producer Markets, to bring a flavoursome feast of local producer and specialist retailer stalls, with a mouth watering selection of fresh produce to sample and buy.
In addition, some of the best food and drink establishments in Trafford will be cooking up an array of culinary delights and tastings from around the world for visitors to purchase using the special Festival currency.
Plus, it's not too late for food or drink related businesses to join in and get a listing on Trafford's special website for the Festival, www.atasteoftrafford.com or contribute a creative food or cocktail recipe.
