United Trinity statue unveiled
A bronze tribute to three Manchester United football club legends - George Best, Dennis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton - has been unveiled outside the club's 'theatre of dreams'.
The 'life size and a half' statue was created by world renowned sculptor Phillip Jackson, who also sculpted the famous Sir Matt Busby statue standing opposite the United Trinity above the east stand reception.
Using four tonnes of clay and three tonnes of bronze, the statue was commissioned after George Best's untimely death, to celebrate the contribution of the three European Footballers of the Year, team mates in one of the greatest, most successful periods in United's history.
At the unveiling Chief Executive David Gill said: "The team of the 1960s summed up the great Sir Matt Busby's philosophy. At its head were three geniuses - different in style and character - but all of whom achieved levels in the game not seen before.
"It is appropriate, with the European Cup triumph, that this United Trinity will always be able to keep a keen eye on the club they graced."
