Get on your bikes and cycle is the message from the Council. A series of cycling events are to take place during Bike Week from 15 to 23 June to get more people cycling throughout the borough.
Bike week is a national event supported by the government and co-ordinated by a number of cycling organisations including Sustrans, the Cyclist Touring Club and Cycle campaigns network.
Programme of events:
Trafford Cycle Forum Monday 17 June 6pm
The Trafford Cycle Forum is being relaunched at Trafford Town Hall. Anyone with an interest in cycling is welcome to attend. The meeting will be preceded by a light buffet tea at 5.30pm onwards and a photo call at 5.25pm by the covered cycle stand at the main entrance to Trafford Town Hall, particularly for those who have cycled to the forum. Councillor Adshead will chair the meeting.
Bike Doctor Tuesday 18 June 10am - 12pm
Come and receive a free bike MOT courtesy of Bike Shack in Altrincham. The good doctor will be in Shaws Road, Altrincham Town Centre between 10am-12pm.
Bike Doctor Wednesday 19 June 10am - 12 pm
Come and receive your free bike MOT courtesy of Manchester Cycle Exchange in Urmston. The good doctor will be in Hereford Street, near School Road, Sale between 10am-12pm.
Trafford Water Sports Centre Bike Ride Wednesday 19 June 7pm
A bike ride will take place leaving the Centre at 7pm. The bike ride will be for a distance of 8 miles and travels down the Trans Pennine trail.
Bike Doctor Friday 21 June 10am - 12pm
Come and receive your free bike MOT courtesy of Eddie McGrath Cycles. The good doctor will be in Urmston Shopping Centre between 10am-12pm.
The Council is offering employees at Trafford Town Hall a chance to indulge themselves in a free breakfast if they choose to commute to work on their bike during the week.
