28 February 2012
Women from across Trafford are invited to Stretford Leisure Centre on Thursday 8 March to help Trafford Council celebrate International Women's Day.
This year London 2012 is the inspiration and the aim of the day is to encourage more Trafford women into sport. In recognition of the Olympic theme, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games has awarded the event a London 2012 Inspire Mark.
Women can come to the Leisure centre between 10.30 and 2.30 where there will be free, women only taster sessions in a range of sporting and keep fit activities including netball, swimming and spinning. There will be healthy eating recipe demonstrations throughout the day and experts on hand to give confidential information and guidance on fitness and health, training, career development, returning to work, benefits and more.
There will be free cupcakes for the first one hundred women and a free crèche for pre-school aged children. All attendees will be entered into a prize draw to win a free, one year 'Anytime' membership that can be used in all six of Trafford Community Leisure Trust's centres.
Theresa Grant, Acting Chief Executive at Trafford Council said: "We are proud that Trafford has been chosen as a host borough for the London 2012 Olympic Games and are working hard to ensure the Games leave us with a lasting legacy. By using the games as inspiration for our International Women's Day celebration we hope to do just that. I'd encourage all Trafford women to grab their kit and get down to Stretford Leisure Centre next Thursday - it's a day not to be missed!"
