Trafford Council has teamed up with Keoghs, Nicholls, Liddell and Harris Solicitors to help people at risk of having their home repossessed.
As part of its targeted efforts to support people and provide options to help and guide them to make informed choices, free Tuesday afternoon advice sessions are now available between 1pm and 3.30pm at Sale Waterside.
Anyone concerned their personal situation could result in their home being repossessed can make an appointment by contacting the council on 0161 912 1276.
Alternatively they can contact the company directly by telephoning 0161 928 9321, e-mailing I.email@example.com or calling in to their offices, 21-23 Market Street, Altrincham.
Executive Councillor Michael Hyman said the council is committed to doing everything possible to prevent homelessness among local people.
"Key to ensuring financial and other problems do not escalate, to a point where someone is at serious risk of having their home repossessed, is access to appropriate advice and support.
"By working closely with knowledgeable, skilled partners and professionals, we are determined to continue providing this. Our link with another local firm of solicitors builds on the excellent opportunities available from a variety of public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
"I welcome this partnership working and urge anyone concerned about their situation to act now and seek the help they need. By doing this they will be giving themselves the best chance of finding a suitable solution which allows them to remain in their home."
