Loft and cavity wall insulation is now free* for the majority of residents living in Trafford thanks to the Get Me Toasty scheme.

Toasty Trafford, set up by Trafford Council in partnership with the Greater Manchester Energy Advice Service and endorsed by the NHS, provides funding for owner occupiers and private renters to have loft and cavity wall insulation installed by an accredited installer.

You don't have to be receiving benefits to qualify for the scheme, which can offer up to £700 worth of improvements to your home for free!

Executive Councillor Alan Mitchell said: "This is a fantastic offer which will not only help make your home toasty warm for winter, but will make a real impact in cutting your household bills. I would encourage residents to consider taking advantage of the scheme before the rush to install in the autumn."

The offer will only be available until the end of 2012, when it will be replaced by the Government's new Green Deal scheme, under which insulation will be included with a package of other measures and will no longer be free of charge.

Call the Greater Manchester Energy Advice Service free on 0800 009 3363 or 0161 245 7638 (open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) or visit getmetoasty.com to book a free, no obligation survey online.

* offer based on an average-sized three bedroom semi-detached house with less than 60mm loft insulation currently in place. Larger properties may be subject to excess metreage charges.
