Trafford Council has joined forces with Cheshire East, Stockport and Tameside councils for a month-long recruitment campaign to encourage more people to consider adopting a child.
The 'View Life Differently - Adopt a Child' campaign starts next Monday, 29 October. Featuring advertisements across the Metrolink tram network, it coincides with this year's National Adoption Week (5-11 November).
Metrolink commuters will see campaign advertisements on trams across the entire network during the month.
The council is particularly keen to hear from couples and single people interested in adopting an older child, sibling groups, children from an ethnic minority background and children with disabilities and/or developmental needs.
Executive Councillor Linda Blackburn said: "Here in Trafford we are fortunate to have good numbers of adopters. However there is always a need for more.
"It is heartwarming for us when we are able to place a child for adoption into a loving, safe and secure home. Adopting a child is the most rewarding, fulfilling experience and I'd urge anyone who has ever wondered about adoption to take this opportunity to find out more."
Prospective adopters are invited to attend an open evening at St John's Church Hall, St John's Road, Old Trafford on Tuesday, 6 November. They will be able to speak to adoption staff and adoptive parents and pick up more information about the adoption process and support available.
Alternatively people can find out more about adoption by going to www.trafford.gov.uk/adoption, e-mailing adoption@trafford.gov.uk or ringing 0161 912 3971.
