'Top of League' Trafford Schools and Colleges

Trafford Council's Executive Director of Children and Young People's Service Chris Pratt today extended his congratulations to students and teachers at local schools and colleges, following confirmation that Trafford Local Education Authority has achieved 'first in the country' A Level results. Trafford schools also produced the sixth best GCSE results nationally.

These latest results also showed Lostock College to be one of the 100 most improved schools in the country. There was also recognition for Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, which achieved the 12th highest A Level results and Altrincham Grammar School for Boys that achieved the 30th. Trafford Local Education Authority's 'value added' score also saw it ranked 9th nationally.

"This is great news and I would first of all like to say how proud the LEA is of all the students who have worked so hard to secure such fantastic A Level results. Year on year we manage to improve and this really is down to the excellent schools, colleges, teachers and all the other staff that we have in Trafford.

"We are extremely proud of our schools and colleges. These outstanding results do not happen by accident. They are a product of talent, hard work and skilful teaching," he said.

Executive Member Councillor David Merrell also expressed his delight and extended his congratulations to students, schools and colleges.

"The Council continues to demonstrate its commitment to the education of all local students and it is great to see this commitment producing such excellent results. The extremely hard work and determination shown by students at all levels is something that is always good to see and with improvements continuing to be made year on year at all levels, the future looks extremely positive for local education and the opportunities for our young people," he said.
