Planning
The Planning service is divided into a number of specialist teams which work together to bring their expertise to individual projects and the service as a whole.
1. Development Control - deals with the processing of planning applications, taking account of Council policies and briefs, government guidance and the individual merits of each scheme in order to control development in the Borough in the public interest. To view information regarding planning applications online please see our constantly updated Public Access Database. The Database also allows you to monitor the progress of a current application, view associated documents and to submit comments about the scheme.
2. Planning Enforcement - Planning laws are designed to control the development and use of land and buildings in the public interest. Planning Enforcement carry out a range of activities to help apply planning laws and achieve compliance with legislation by individuals and businesses.
3. Strategic Planning - is responsible for the Adopted Unitary Development Plan which provides policies to guide development in the Borough. The Strategic Planning Team are also responsible for the production of the new Local Development Framework which will replace the UDP and will guide the next twenty years of development in Trafford.
4. Conservation and Environment - deals with Conservation Areas, listed buildings and Tree Preservation Orders.
5. Building Control - responsible for ensuring that all notifiable work carried out within the Borough complies with the Building Regulations 2000 Act.
