Did you know that you can pay for a variety of council services, using any of the payment methods below:

Paying Online
You can pay for any of the following services online or over the telephone:
- Council Tax
- Business Rates – Debit Cards only
- Council Issued Invoices
- Social Care Invoices
- Housing Benefit Overpayment
- Council Mortgages
- Parking Penalty Notices

To prevent unauthorised use of your card, we aim to ensure the highest levels of security and peace of mind whilst using your card online. When you use our payment system you may be asked by your card provider to verify your identity using Verified By Visa or Mastercard SecureCode.
If your card provider is a participant in the scheme you will be asked to enter the security details that you agreed with your provider when you registered your card. Don't worry if you haven't registered yet. You'll have the opportunity to register during the payment process.
If your card provider is not a participant in the scheme, your transaction will simply continue as usual.

Telephone Payments
We also provide an automated telephone payments service for collecting payments for all of the above with the exception of Community Care Services and Housing Advances.

Payments by Post Office - Payzone Outlets
Payments can be made without charge at any Post Office or Payzone outlet, for the following:
- Council Tax – using your Payment Card
- Business Rates – using your Payment Card
- Council Mortgages – using your Payment Card
- Accounts Receivable Invoices – using the Barcode printed on the Invoice
- Social Care Invoices – using the Barcode printed on the Invoice

What is Payzone?
Payzone is the most convenient way to pay your household bills, top up your mobile phone and make other payments, at your local shops. There are in excess of 30,000 outlets with dedicated Payzone terminals across the UK, all located in newsagents, convenience stores and forecourts, selected for convenient locations, long opening hours and friendly service. Payzone retailers are open early morning, late night, 7 days a week.
By Direct Debit

Switch to Direct Debit
If you choose to pay by Direct Debit, payments will be made automatically and you no longer have to remember to pay each month. You can put behind you the worry of overlooking a payment, perhaps due to illness or being on holiday. We will always give you advance notice of your payments. The Scheme is completely guaranteed by your Bank, please see the Direct Debit Guarantee below for more details.
The Direct Debit Guarantee
This guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit scheme. The efficiency and security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.
If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, we will tell you 10 working days before your account is debited or as otherwise agreed.
If we or your Bank or Building Society make a mistake, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount you have paid.
You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to us.

The Billing/Reference/Invoice number should be written on the reverse of the cheque/postal order.
If you require a receipt, a stamped addressed envelope must be sent with your payment.
We will not accept cheques with future dates on them, they will be returned to your bank.

Telephone, Internet Banking and over the counter payments at the Co-operative Bank plc
You can make a payment direct to the Council’s Bank Account using your Bank’s telephone or Internet Banking Service.
You can also pay at any branch of the Co-operative Bank plc.
When making a payment please quote your Billing/Invoice/Reference number.
